Aims and scope of the conference
The overall objective of the 17th EAA Conference is to contribute to the worldwide debate about human health as a global concern [United Nations, 1995]. The attention will focus on ongoing changes in social and cultural life conditions in different regions of the world and different periods of human history, and their implications for human health and welfare.
Within the frame of the overall aim, main objectives of this meeting are (i) to bring together scholars representing a range of disciplines, experts, students, practitioners, community activists to share research results, strategies and experience in order to provide a better understanding of health related problems of human beings in present and past times;
(ii) to create a discussion forum on enhancement to the public awareness of health resources issues and challenges.
An extensive Social Programme will complement the scientific contents, ensuring an informative and entertaining conference for all participants.


Conference topics
The theme of the 2010 EAA conference is Biological, Social and Cultural Dimensions of Human Health
This broad theme will provide a forum for presentations on a variety of topics related to the living and the past human populations. The main topics for the symposia are:
• Applications of evolution to human health
• Health determinants, measurements and trends
• Health and illness in cross-cultural perspective
• Growth, maturation and ageing
• Health and human behaviour
• Human skeletal health
• Ethical issues in anthropological research
• Applied anthropology and human health
• Miscellany
The Committee offers conference participants opportunities to propose panels or sessions on themes of their own devising. Those wishing to propose a roundtable discussion or session that deviates from traditional paper-demonstration format are requested to submit their idea and chosen format, the topic to be discussed, the desired length of time, and a list of participants.

Conference presentations
There will be plenary lectures providing a synthesizing view of selected areas of global health research and free papers presented by participants. Abstracts of the papers must be submitted before May 1, 2010 and preceded by payment of a registration fee.
Conference participants may indicate their preference for an oral or poster presentation on their registration form however the Scientific Committee will make the final decision and notify the authors by June 1, 2010. Every participant may present one paper of which he/she is a first author, and some others of which is a second or further author.
The final conference programme will be announced on July 15, 2010.
The organizers plan to publish conference papers.

Best student poster award
The Scientific Committee awards a prize for an outstanding student research work presented at the Congress. The prize is to be given to the person judged as presenting the best poster by a student at the Congress.

Social Programme
All registered delegates and accompanying guests are invited to participate in the social programme, including the welcome reception, which will be held in the Collegium Minus of the Adam Mickiewicz University Main Building immediately after the opening ceremony, on Sunday August 29, 2010 and the gala dinner on Wednesday September 1, 2010.
The Congress will not provide a special touring programme for accompanying persons. However, we suggest you check relevant websites for information on tourist attractions in Poznañ and its surroundings as well as in other Polish cities.

Congress venue
The Opening Ceremony will be held in the Aula of Collegium Minus, the main building of the Adam Mickiewicz University situated in the heart of the city, ul. Wieniawskiego 1, Sunday afternoon August 29th, 2010. The conference sessions will be held in the University Campus Morasko at the Collegium Biologicum, ul. Umultowska 89, a modern facility adjusted to the requirements of disabled people. Collegium Biologicum is located in the northern part of the city and surrounded by nice forest areas. We will be there from Monday August 30th to Thursday September 2nd , 2010.

Fees, registration & confirmation
The online registration will start September 1, 2009.
The registration fee entitles participants to the following: admission to the all scientific sessions and social programme including entry to the opening ceremony and welcome reception held in the Collegium Minus of the Adam Mickiewicz University Main Building immediately after the opening ceremony and first plenary lecture on Sunday August 29, 2010 and entry to the gala dinner on Wednesday September 1, 2010; free lunches and refreshments; conference materials including programme and abstracts.
The registration fee entitles accompanying persons to the following: entry to the social programme including opening ceremony and welcome reception on Sunday August 29, 2010 and the gala dinner on Wednesday September 1, 2010.
Payment can be made in Euro by credit card or bank transfer. Cash will be accepted only on site. The payment will start on September 1, 2009.
Participation certificates, receipts on the fees paid will be handed at the registration.
