How to use the search facilities?
The four search fields are linked with an AND operator
ex.: Country = 'France', Discipline = 'Auxology' results in the selection of records with both 'France' AND 'Auxology'
 
The text in the search fields is not case sensitive (capital and small letters can be used intermixed)
ex.: Auxology = auxology = AUXOLOGY = AuXoLoGy = ....
 
All searches are of the type: 'field CONTAINS string'
ex.: Discipline = 'genetic' results in the selection of records with disciplines such as 'human genetics', 'cytogenetics', 'palaeogenetics', etc...
 
When searching in the field 'Surname, First Name' one should omit special characters (ü, é, è, ó, á, ...), blanks, quotes, commas, apostrophes and dashes.
ex.: to search for 'El-Nofely', you should enter 'El-Nofely' or 'El%Nofely'
to search for 'Evá', you should enter 'Evá' or ''Ev%'
to search for 'Örley', you should enter 'Örley' or '%rley'
 
PS1: The system always returns the correctly spelled name.
PS2: This facility is also useful when one is not sure about the correct spelling of the full Name of a person, for instance, or when only part of a long Name is sufficient to make a search.
 
When leaving all search fields empty (blank) the system returns all records in the database
 
'Discipline' and 'Country' are selected from the respective pulldown menus. Leaving them on "(not specified)" yields no specific selection of the corresponding field.
